The Mass Series
Welcome to this fortnight's edition of LITed: Liturgical Education News. Archbishop Mark Coleridge's new web series on the Mass has been very popular. In this edition of LITed, we provide some reading and questions for reflection for some of the films. Parishes may like to use these additional materials for discussion and reflection. We have included downloadable strategies and processes for your parish to use in conjunction with great resources from Elizabeth Harrington.

The Meaning of the word 'liturgy'We use the word 'liturgy' generously. We use it to describe the formal liturgies of the catholic church to staff prayer. But what does it actually mean and how should we use it appropriately? This film is the first in a series from 'The Liturgical Institute' in Chicago. It explores what the origins of the word 'liturgy' are and how we should use the term today.

Resources for understanding the Mass
Break Open the Word 2018
Break Open the Word is the handbook for readers! It provides the readings and psalms for each Sunday with a commentary designed to provide not only background to the text but assistance on how to read it. A pronunciation guide is included. Log on to your Liturgy Brisbane account to see special pricing. |
The Order of the Mass
When the new Mass texts were introduced, Liturgy Brisbane printed a little booklet containing the Order of the Mass. It has been out of print for several years, but people keep asking for it. They want to use it with children in schools, for catechumens and visitors to the church. Parishes want a small convenient replacement for the large cards they have available at the church door. Here it is for you again! This booklet contains the Order of Mass with all Eucharistic Prayers as well as the solemn blessings and Rite for Sprinkling Water. |
We Pray As One 2018
We Pray As One is designed for daily liturgical prayer for the school classroom and parish meetings. Week by week during the year, a simple liturgical prayer is provided, taking account of the liturgical seasons and saints' days. Introductory material will help teachers understand liturgical prayer and introduce it to their class. |
