Greetings to all from Liturgy Brisbane.
This issue of Lited is devoted to celebrating liturgy with children and teenagers.
As emphasised in the Directory for Masses with Children, careful preparation is required when celebrating Mass or a Liturgy of the Word with children, since children’s faith grows through liturgical experience appropriate to their developmental level.
The articles in this issue offer a wealth of practical strategies for promoting children's engagement in the multi-sensory, dynamic event of the liturgy and fostering their participation in the spoken responses, singing, and embodied action.
Some helpful resources are also suggested.
We hope you enjoy this edition of LITed.
Blessings and very best wishes from all of us.

CHILDREN'S MASS BOOK
Promoting Participation and Understanding
This publication gives children all the texts which the assembly say or sing, along with short and easy-to-understand descriptions of what is happening. Illustrations have been drawn from the child’s perspective, and emphasise that Mass is not something the priest is doing, but something that the priest is leading the people in doing. The liturgy is conveyed as a joyful event for families and communities to participate in together. Click here to learn more |
Eucharistic Prayers for Masses with Children
There are three Eucharistic Prayers for Children for use with the Roman Missal. These prayers will help children to participate more fully and with greater understanding. These Eucharistic Prayers have been approved by the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and confirmed by the Holy See for use in Masses with Children. A copy of these prayers is essential for every school and parish. The version pictured here is a hard-bound altar edition. In addition to the Eucharistic Prayers for Children, it also includes the Directory for Masses with Children. |
